Hey, I have a question for you guys... and no one I've asked yet has been able to give me a straight answer, so here goes.
When you are setting the fast idle speed on your carb, which do you set it for?
A) Fast enough that the engine runs smoothly from a stone-cold start.
B) Just fast enough for it to start stone-cold and run without stalling, although running a little rough.
Now, I don't have a problem that needs solving here, this is just a question I'd like to get a straight answer for.
Thanks

honestly in the holley book it says any setting that engine will run properly UNDER 1500rpms out of gear. that's all it states.
You set it to the lowest point that will run the engine cold. Sometimes its just 300 RPM above idle, I like 1200 RPM.

You don't want it running rough, that means it's misfiring so you have raw fuel washing down the cylinder walls, smooth is always good.

I make mine run fast enough that it's smooth but if in order to do this you have to set the speed real high (above 1300 or 1500 IMO) then I'd say you have some other issues to sort through first.
