computer controlled carb

just wondering if there is any place to get computers for computer controlled quadrajet for 85 trans ams. most places iv asked said you cant replace the computers in that year, but there is a place that deals with throttle body replacements that can sell me a kit with a computer for a 383 engine(but only if i switch to tbi). carberator dealers say it is a one prong so cant replace, if this is the reason im not really sure why you cant get one for a carb but you can replace with one if you switch to tbi

thx for any info you can give me

Welcome aboard.

Not sure what you're trying to "fix", but try this: www.partsamerica.com . Click the button on the top that asks about the vehicle ("My Vehicle" or "Add a Vehicle", whatever comes up). Enter your vehicle type information, then do a search on "computer".

You can get a remanufactured computer, or just a chip. Most likely, all you're needing, if anything, is a chip.

If you car has a knock sensor for a 305 on a 383, that may be your issue. Word is the cylinder bore diameter is what the sensor is tuned to, so a knock sensor for a 350 will do.
