???,edelbrock 3706 intake,what are the whole 4 in the throat.someone said it was an older intake and the holes are stock.

 

If by "throat" you mean the "plenum" - i.e., looking down into the manifold where the carb mounts - the hole is for the EGR gases to get into the air/fuel mixture going to the cylinders.

It's not an "old" manifold. They still make it. As far as I know it's the same now as it was when it first came out.
