idle lowers when on an incline
I was stopped at a steep hill and notice that the idle went down from 650 to below 500.Could it be the float level(front or back?)

Sounds like you might be right. I think that it could be the rear float, because of the incline the fuel is shifted toward the rear of the bowl. Similiar to if you launch hard when running at the track. Not positive if that is the cause but it makes sense.
How hard was it to convert your IROC? I've been thinking about pitching the TPI on my car in favour of a carb setup. I've read up on the swap, it doesn't look too hard. I guess the fuel pump would be the most amount of work. Where you able to use the stock linkage or did have to fab something up?

The IROC has a BBC and the linkage was perfect.
