backfiring through carb, ive tried everything

well ive had my TBI to Carb swap done for some time now. I swapped to a edelbrock 600 carb #1406. I have the timing set at 14 degrees advances, ive checked the plug wires to make sure there in the right order 150 times. all the vacuum is hooked up. I cant figure this one out. It doesnt not do it very much at all, its like i have to try. and it only happens if i rev the engine, let the RPM's drop and then stomp it all at once again. Im runng 6 PSI of fuel pressure, is this too much? Even if it is it wouldnt cause this would it?

your fuel pressure and timing are about right. Problem could be the carb is leaning out when you rev it. I don't know too much about edelbrocks though so I can't really help you there. If you can check the float level on the carb and see if the bowls are running dry.

are you using manifold vac, or ported vac, for the distributor?
If the latter, for an experiment, change to manifold vac
and reduce initial advance, and tell us what happens.
