source for used ccc-qjet?
I'll be hitting the yards this week looking for a ccc-qjet body. The fuel inlet on my new 85 TA LG4 was cross threaded when I pulled it for a rebuild and even with the teflon tape thing it leaked a little. Of course even if it held I'd have worried about it.
Anyway, what other cars/models came with our carburetor? Were there any differences among the ccc-qjets? I did notice a difference in the vacuum ports from my 87, but that's on the base which I don't need.

Most any '81-up passenger vehicle, and a few mid-80's up trucks.

It appears that there may be a repair kit for the filter bore for q-jets that includes an oversize inlet. I'll be checking the catalogs at the local NAPA on the way home. Yard prices for the used carb ran around $50 here.

Oh, yeah, I meant to mention that.
The "Help" section in your local chain parts store often includes it as well.

Kit was $15. Took a little effort to get it lined up when starting it. Worked though. I had swapped carbs with the 87 when I found the 85 needed work (20 vs 25 mpg). It's sweet having a second LG4 system in the same driveway. Way easier when troubleshooting to swap parts instead of breaking out the Fluke. I'd recommend it. Now back to Land Desktop and watesheds..

I should have mentioned that you shouldn't expect to install that self-tapping oversized fitting with the carb installed and assembled. It creates filings that need to be cleaned out of the carb, and the only "right" way to do that is with the carb disassembled.
Want to ask me how I know that?

I fashioned a small rubber plug for the inside of the fuel inlet from some vacuum hose then blew out the filings. I've been there before when I installed a remote filter after removing the clogged stock filter for a rust problem. I neglected to clean out the fuel line between the new filter and the q-jet . Got a block away and fuel was spewing from the top. That was like in 80-81. Surprised I remembered.
