The price leveled off at $2.999 for regular unleaded here yesterday. The independants and majors alike, even in various areas that rarely have the same price, appear to be reticent to be the first to go over the $3.00 mark. The news this morning was the oil prices have dropped (I never heard the amount it was down or where it ended the day, because I was out today going full throttle several times a quarter of a mile at a time).

Idiot responses, such as I've heard all week to "fill up all your vehicles before the price goes up", "the government should step in and do something about these prices", and, "people are getting rich at our expense" do nothing to solve the problem and in fact make it much worse.

The absolute worst thing we could to is allow the government to step in and take over (any more than they already are, anyway).
