switching to carb ?'s
well i am back in the states now and working on getting everything ready to drop in my 406...my father in law who owns his own shop is doing the work and was thinking of using the stock sending unit from the gas tank and just putting on a different regulator. this got me thinking and i know the psi on my tpi was set at 42 and carb's only run 6-8...so has anyone used the tpi set up or do we need to swap everything over to an eng driven pump? and will we need to swap fule lines also? thanks dave.

Moving this to the Carb forum.
Oft discussed here. You'll need a return-style regulator (about $75, typically), that can be set down to 4-6 psi. The in-tank pump needs constant flow, which the return provides, in order to keep it from overheating.
You don't need to change fuel lines, just reroute them in the engine compartment.

I posted pics & info on my setup here.
I don't know if the stock pump can supply 500+hp worth of flow.
If you could come up with the GPM @ 6psi for that much power, I could do a flow test and tell you for sure.

i will end up running an in-line pump most likely and not actually the in-tank..i believe that should supply enough???
