gettin started

I' am trying to get my dads 1980 camaro Z28 started and i'am having some trouble. It has a new battery and it has a new carb, but it has sit for a couple years and he has had it started within the past couple months but now i can't get it started. i have tried using starting fluid but when its turning over it just doesn't sound like gas is getting into the carb. Does anybody know what i could do to help get it started or what may be wrong? please let me know!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Corey

Could be a number of different things. First off, verify there is actually gas goiing into the carb.
