TPI to carb.... should i or not?!?!

my brother in law wants to put a TPI set up in his 72 camaro. So i have a chance to switch ALL my TPI stuff.. heads, mani, runners, etc. etc. for his heads, intake, 750 carb. If i did a straight up swap without changing anything will this make me slower. So do i need to make a lot of changes to make it as fast as my car is now??

How fast is your car now? how much faster do you want it to be?
If your buds car that has the carbed combo on it, isn't a screamer, your car won't go fast just by bolting on his top end.

What carbed combo parts exactly are you swapping for?
if they are old 70's smog heads you'll probabily be worse off.

is gas mileage an issue?

Does this have to be "Emissions legal"?
Yes you'll have to make changes to the car. (fuel system)

ok, first off my car goes as.. stock tb w/ airfoil, ported plenum, ported SLP runners, ported accel base, cam w/ about 490-500 lift, dunno bout dur., headers, super coil, th350 w/ 2200 stall, 3.23 gears, under drive pullies, no a/c or smog emmision anything, afpr. Bout sums up my car, runs about a mid 13. Hes got a 750 carb, edlebrock torquer2 intake or weind and dont know bout heads yet. His motor was built and has a street cam so who ever built it must have done something to the heads at least. heres a pic of my motor.

His heads are probabily stock and likely smoggers.
A torkerII is not that great of an intake. There are many better ones. The simular low rise Weiand is not much better.

Doesn't look like a favourable trade for you, maybe for him.

Are your heads stock? Which heads do yu have? If you're running mid 13's now. a decent head port job with larger valves maybe a compression ratio tweek. or a completely new set of heads with higher flow combined with a better torque converter and higher rear gearing should get you into the 12's. I would stick with your combo and improve it.
is the TPI manifold "siamesed"?

What is your MPH at the end of the quarter? gives me a better idea of the power you're making now.

What about the exhaust system?

There is a probable reason why he wants to trade.

Likely the medeocor performance he is getting from his combo is not worth the bad gas mileage. I'd trade ya that combo too for yours straight up.

I got a old torker II, set of old 350 heads and a double pumper laying around here somewhere .

whats up jerry....

put the carb on it, if you don't make more peak horsepower than the tpi, youll AT THE VERY LEAST make the same amount of power, but it will be evenly/better dispersed through the rpm rang than with the tpi. pm me here or there if you have any more questions...it is a fairly easy swap and i have part numbers.
