im loseing power; help!!

ok, i have a 85' t/a with a LG4.... my carb is the stock q-jet, i think it was replaced with a rebuilt one right before i bought her..... the car seems to idel fine and driving normal is no problem either but when i open her up to full throttle she has this horrible lag and just eats gas like a motherfu*ker but doesnt seem to go any faster... seems like i get more power at half throttle then full... it also seems like she's being pushed to hard at full throttle.... what could be causeing this and how could i fix it? thanks.....

oh and another thing, im not to familer with carburetors so if you could say it in laymans terms, lol thanks

For the hesitation off-idle, check out the tech article about adjusting the air vavle tension- that should help you out.

With the engine off, take off the air cleaner. Push down on the big air flaps over the back barrels of the carb. There is a lever inbetween the flaps that should raise up (and pull two little rods up at the same time). If the flaps open but the lever (hanger, it's called) doesn't come up, the plastic cam that is supposed to raise those rods via the hanger as the flaps (called the "air valves") open has broken apart.
