carb problem or timing

When my car is at idle @ appx 1k rpm on my cc q-jet accelerator response is good(no hesitation)When I put it in gear and hold the brake it acts like it isn't getting any fuel and when I try to drive it initially it jumps with power and then just flutters and the more I push on the gas pedal the worse it runs. I have had to change the oil and clean the plugs several times now because the car is flooding out. I don't know how I can check the timing as the Timing gauge is broken off. Any suggestions? Why does the engine rev and idle perfect in park and go to crap in gear?

Could be a Vacume leak/blockage. You said it does it when you hold the breaks down? If so that what I would initialy think. Because when you use your breaks it needs vacume for the break booster

I will keep digging, thanks for the input. I also was told to check the fuel filter and fuel pump.
