Holley high flow main body?
Hey all, I have something I've been thinking about for a while. Right now I'm building a Vortec headed 350 with an XE274, 1.6's, Performer RPM, and a Holley 650 double pumper. It's going into a 87 T/A with a T5 and some 3.73's out back, breathing through some Hooker 2055's and a Hooker catback. It isn't exactly a wild setup, but it won't be a slouch either. Will the 650 be able to sufficiently feed it?
If not, I'd rather not buy a new carb as I just bought this one last summer and put MAYBE 400 miles on it. So my other option is the Holley 750 replacement main body. It looks really appealing, as it reuses my baseplate, metering blocks and fuel bowls, and gets rid of that ugly choke tower.
Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? How much, if any, improvement would I see over the 650? Are there any advantages to using the Holley one, as opposed to Proform's?
Thanks in advance!

The Holley mainbody upgrade is fairly new, and obviously a response to the Proform success. I haven't heard of anyone yet that has used the Holley mainbody.
On my 396, the Proform took off about a tenth vs. the stock 650. At the time, that is. I've done other upgrades since then, so the difference would probably be greater.
I would assume some improvement over the 650 for you as well.

The Holley HP Main body is a very nice piece. The Proform's not bad.....but the Holley is a slightly better piece IMHO. Worth the extra money.
BTW.. Proform piece seems to be much heavier than standard Holley Main Body.

If I would of had the option of going with a Holley main body I would have chosen it over the proform one. Not that the proform main body has been problematic but I prefer Holley "genuine" parts , if there is such a thing.
