3 Fuel lines in engine bay -- evap can, carb fuel supply, what is the 3rd one?

Hi guys, still finishing up the V6 to V8 swap. There are 3 fuel hardlines up front -- one is attached to the center port on the evap canister, and there are 2 more -- one is 5/16", the other is 3/8". Which is fuel supply to the pump (I am running a mechanical pump on the 305), and what is the other line? I am being told by the previous owner that the 2 lines both went to the mechanical fuel pump on the 2.8 V6, that one was a return for the fuel cutoff. If this really is the case, I just cap off the return since I am using a regular old fashioned mechanical fuel pump, right? Which of the 2 lines is supply and which is return, the 5/16 or the 3/8?

The 3/8" is the supply, and the 5/16" is the return.

A Carter M6626 will use both. Helps avoid vapor lock with the tight confines of the 3rd gen underhood.
