Fuel Consumption of New Crate Engines

Hi!
I'm planning to swap my TPI Engine to a brand-new carbuerated one.
I think the 385' with Fast Burn Heads is the best choice for me.

Currently, I have a average MPG of ~ 15.5-16 ( 88' 350 TPI ; AT ; 2.73 rear, w/o AC ). That's pretty much, at these high fuel prices. ( about 6$/gallon ).
So I want to run the new engine with LPG instead of simple 95' octane gasoline. ( about 10% higher fuel consumption, but just 2,60$ /gallon.

My general question is: Would that new ~400HP engine consume less fuel than my TPI?
Would be very nice of you, if you could post your MPG's of your 3rdGen's with Crate Engines in place of a stock one.

about 20, running pig rich.

I just re-wired my lockup since throwing in the crate engine, so that should add a few MPG.

26 inch tall tires, 2.73 gears, 700r4 lockup... 1600RPM at 55 roughly.

gonna jump down a size on the accelerator nozzle and secondary jets. that should help too.

huge difference between the 350 HO and the ZZ4.... hmm
zz4 sounds good...
hmmm, with 2.73gears & th700r4, i think die mileage should be nearly the same, probably better.

There's a big difference between the setups the two guys are running. T56 is a big advantage over an automatic.

The Fastburn is a pretty healthy engine. Not sure how you'd do on emissions testing. The LPG may help, though. I seriously doubt you're going to approach the TPI mileage with any carburated engine, regardless of the fuel type.
