weiand intake wont fit alum l98 heads?

Hey guys, I was trying to install my weiand Stealth intake on , my carb converted corvette. I have alumium l98 heads.

The Intake was about 1/8 too wide on both sides. coulnt get both sides to seal flat. the manifold was new, and i also had a new weiand xlerator that fitted fine.

Anyone have this problem?

You will probably have to grind quite a bit off of the upper edges of the intake to get it to fit. The center bolt type heads have a 1/4" wide ridge along the top edge of the intake face because of the wider valve cover gasket area. Older style intakes will have to be ground quite substancially to clear this ridge.

If his intake manifold is older than the mid 1980's it won't have the cutout notches to clear the ridge on the top of the intake faces on centerbolt heads and he will have to grind it to fit.

i dont know... i had a problem with my vortec manifold on my 86 305 so i stole my 84 manifold and all i had to do was lengthen the center bolt holes...
