193 heads, max lift ?

I googled this but got mixed results.

I have a L05 I pulled out of a blazer the other night. It's going in my boat.

My marine cam is 207* and .450" lift.

I'm going to put either some L98 springs or LT4 springs on it to deal with the roller cam. (roller block, but in a truck application they use a flat tappet cam).

Anyone use 193 heads and happen to check retainer to seal clearance?

Id imagine at .450 lift you should encounter no issues using the corrct springs

I read all over the place different 'specs'.

I know the vortecs have tall guides and hit the retainers quite early. Wasn't sure on these.

This is just a boat, so I don't wanna go crazy and put good heads on it.

Re: 193 heads, max lift ?

If they are the same as their little brother -187 heads the bottoms of the retainers will touch the guide seals around .450-.460" lift. You'd be borderline with that cam.

Easy enough to check, though, since you're going to have the springs off it anyway. Just put on the locks and retainer with no spring, pull up on the retainer to seat everything and measure the distance from the top of the seal to the bottom of the retainer with you outside measuring caliper.

ok. Now I gotta find some cheap 1.24" springs with the right spring pressures.

Marine cam is 197/207, .430/.450.

Maybe like stock vortec springs?

Stock springs in '193 heads are 80lbs at 1.700".. That won't work.
