Question about Idle mixture screws

I was wondering how the Idle mixture screws work when you turn them in and out. What happens when you turn them out? Does it richen the mixture or lean it?

berlincam86,

CCW (Out) Richens, CW (In) Leans.....

If your car has a CCC (Computer Command Control) Rochester you really don't want to mess with those screws unless you are following the complete and proper adjustment procedure. Haynes published a very good book that is a great starting point for anyone that wants to adjust a Rochester. AutoZone has it for about $15. Adjusting those screws without following the proper procedure is asking for trouble

Haynes - Techbook - Rochester Carburetor Manual #10230

IMPO - Get the book, read it, read it, read it THOROUGHLY, and THEN go for it!

Sincerely,
Kurt

Yep I have that book. Still have to read it but I was just curious on how they worked. Thanks for the info.
