alright i have a 1991 z28 with a tpi 350. but i have a built 355, forged pistons, ported stock heads, lt1 cam .495/.503 lift, .218/.224 duration, and 1.6 roller rockers. the problem is i dont have the funds to buy a stand alone fuel managment sytem or constanly have a new chip burned every time i add new parts. should i switch to a carb setup, and could i retain some kind of fuel economy 14-20mpg?
thanks
thanks

You don't have to buy a new chip for every change. Get your own PROM burning equipment and do it yourself. It'll pay for itself after a couple of burns, and you're more likely to obtain satisfactory results.
That would cost less than switching over to carb (assuming you buy new stuff).
Yes, I moderate the Carb forum, and yes, my "performance" cars have carbs, but I'm an advocate of improving what you've already got. To be sure, TPI will provide better economy, although the carb will probably produce more power. Which is more important to you is what will drive which way you go.

Go to the top of the page, click on the words "Tech Boards", and look at the names of the forums. I think you'll come across a couple of them with all the answers you need, and even some to questions you haven't asked yet.
With as small of a cam as you have, which is a reasonably TPI-appropriate one, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to keep good gas mileage.
