I have a 305 TBI motor that was bored 30 over a mild cam 203/450 203/450, and the heads shaved, ported and polished. My question is what size carb should I use, and would the switch be worth it? I don't think that I want to take the plunge into DIY tuning, being that i'm more of a hands on guy.

Put your hands on the keyboard, then.

If you really want to convert to carb, there's a tech article accessed from the thirdgen.org homepage that pretty much covers the bases.

Yes I know the EFI to Carb article, I read that and understand the process, but was just wondering if it was worth the time. I also wanted to know if I do so what would be a good carb to go with.

About 600 CFM. What type depends upon the use you plan for it and what else you've done. A double pumper mechanical secondary Holley would be good, but if you've got a stock stall converter, it wouldn't be very happy. With higher stall, it would be great.

I don't know if it would be worth it, because I've never had a TBI car. Some say it is worth it, others say modifying TBI is the way to go. So, opinions are just that - the decision is really up to you. If you don't want to do PROM tuning, carb is about your only choice.

Where is your proof of that statement!!!!!! That cam has a powerband of roughly idle-5,000 rpm in a 305. A set of properly done swirl ports will kick the pants off of most other ported stock heads from idle-4,500+ RPM on mild engines. Vortecs are the only heads that will end up beating them.

PS- I would stay TBI, but that is just me.
