when i bought headers for my car it didnt have any opening for an O2 sensor. So i took the passenger side to a weld shop and they welded a bung in for me. Is it a bad thing that it is on the passenger side? I read that it should be on the drivers side but no explaination why. any ideas? any comments?
i only ask because the car is running very very rich according to my A/f guage.

Well, I personally don't see the difference, as long as it is the same distance from the motor. If it is a one-wire oxg. sensor, its accuracy is more of a lack of. I don't have the chart on hand, but the voltage table was very slopey compared to the air/fuel ratio. That = not very useful.
However, if it says you are running very rich under all conditions, I would say it is a safe bet that you are. It should go stoich or lean under cruise conditions. Again, it's not very reliable.
Also remember, to make the most power, the ratio should be rich. I think about 11:1 for max power. 14.7:1(stoich) is just the ratio to get the cleanest burn

The factory put it in the driver's side because the EFE valve was on the passenger side. It wouldn't get any flow or warm up until after the EFE valve opened, which is too late for closed loop operation.
Where is your A/F gage sensor?

are you putting in the stock O2 sensor for computer use, or for your personal A/F readings?
