Well, assuming your carb isn't pooched beyond repair, might want to just fix/tune it. If you buy a new one, you might be out $300+ and have the same problem (or problems in general) and you'll still have to tune it.
sounds like your choke is sticking on...?

Make sure the 12 volt power wire is connected to the choke thermostat. Most aftermarket chokes have both a power and ground terminal, while the stock carb only has a power terminal (grounds through the carb body). So, make sure both the power and ground wires are properly connected to your thermostat.

Its what looks like a big black plastic cylinder on the passenger side of the carb, with one fitting for an electrical connector in it. It should have a 12v hot wire to it for the choke to open. This wire should only supply 12v when the key is "ON" if I remember right. This is true for the stock Qjet anyway.
When the engine is cold, the choke plate should be closed. If its not, yank on the throttle when its cold and it should snap shut (this is how its supposed to work). When the engine is warmed up, the plate should be open, and stay open as long as the engine is warm, whether its running or not.
This Edelbrock carb you have - does it have an electric choke or a manual choke? If its a manual choke, you'll need to either swap to an electric choke, which works the same as I described above, or buy a choke cable so you can open the choke once the engine is warm.
