I understand that the geometry at the carb attachment point is sort of critical on this tranny, to achieve proper adjustment of pressure cable. If incorrect, the tranny will get trashed.
I saw a Holley-to-700r4 cable attachment bracket and cam, in either the JEGS or Summit catalog.

to retain proper throttle valve operation and adjustment on the 700r4 with any holley, you will want HLY-20-121 and HLY-20-95 as of Summit Racing.
I am using both of these brackets, and they work flawlessly. You must use these in conjuction with one another, or you will fry your 700.
I highly recommend these!

I went to bowtieoverdrive.com for their setup. It works flawlessly even though it does run about $100. I never had luck with the Holley setup and this setup provided me with piece of mind that the tranny wasn't slowly being fried.

I eye-balled that same set-up myself, but then I compared prices, and decided if I wanted to spend 30$ or 100$. What can I say, I "try" to save a little money here and there
You have any pics of that setup? I'd love to see it in action.

if you dont want to trash your tranny dont do anything untill you make the call to bowtieoverdrives at 760-781-2222 or you will end up rebuilding or replacing your tranny like me there may be other kits out there but working with these people are great

I recently installed a 200 4R in one of my vehicles. It has the same TV cable setup as a 700r4. I bought the holley parts to begin with. Didn't work at all. Shift points were all messed up and slushy. I got to measuring the throw vs a stock quad and it was 1/4" off. Figured out I could either have the tranny work right but lose 1/4" of throttle travel, or keep WOT and lose the tranny. I then went and bought the bowtie overdrives kit. Works perfectly. Hated to pay the price, but I ended up buying twice.

Another thing to think about is, just because some cheaper system may work (aka not fry your tranny), it may not work the best. The bowtie system is just like stock which means a lot to me because I like the stock operation of my car.
When I put a little 600 Holley (List 1850) on my wife's 92 Camaro I did some checking of the stock-location "kickdown cable" stud on the Holley vs. a computer controlled QJet TV cable stud (which was often used with the 700R4 tranny in earlier carbureted Camaros and many other GM RWD cars and trucks). I expected to find a big difference in the location and arc through which the two studs would travel from idle to WOT. Nope, dead-ringers. I went with a cheap Spectre throttle/kickdown cable bracket that bolts to one of the rear carb studs and it worked great. It required some modification on the throttle cable side but the TV cable part of the bracket worked flawlessly. Once in final adjustment everything worked fperfectly from light throttle all the way up to WOT. Tranny shifted exactly like stock when it had the TBI on it.
Now, some may say that I'm wrong, but I measured everything. If there's any difference, it's so small I can't measure it accurately (maybe 1/16").
Please note that there is a considerable difference between the location of the TV cable stud on a computer controlled QJet (like used with the 700R4) and the location of the kickdown cable stud on an earlier non-computer controlled QJet (like used with a TH-350). Those two definitely can't be interchanged on a 700R4 without changing the primary throttle shaft. But between Holley and computer controlled QJet they're so close I'd say they're identical. And if a computer controlled QJet worked with the 700R4 then the "identical" Holley geometry should too. It certainly did for me.
And, yes, I was very surprised to find that this was the case when I investigated it with everything I had heard to the contrary.
I am not saying this will work with all Holleys. I only compared my particualar carb to the cc-QJet. But I don't have any reason to think that my carb is any different than the vast majority of aftermarket/universal performance replacement Holleys on the market as far as the location of the kickdown/TV cable stud.

I too was using a 600 holley list 1850-4. When I measured the travel distance from it and compared it to my 87 ccc qjet there was 1/4" difference in travel. There was very little difference in the radius, but for some reason the holley turned further. It was enough to really screw up my shifts. As I said in my earlier post the bowtie OD setup cured all my problems.

thanks for the input, BO seems to be a great company, and its nice to hear feedback on their accessories.

I figure it this way, 100.00 for BTO bracket kit or 1800.00 for new trans that I put in, needless to say, it is a no brainer when it comes to hooking it up right and making it work, BTO kit is best. Whenever I tried to go cheap, it always came back to bite me and cost me more in the long run..
