Aeromotive, Inc.
Carbureted Float Bowl Sensor, P/N 16304
Winner of the prestigious, 2004 SEMA Award For Best New Product, Racing - Performance. Aeromotive's innovative, new Carbureted Float Bowl Sensor will lead us to a new frontier in carburetor tuning and data acquisition.
Patented design outputs 0-5 Volts relative to fuel mass in the carburetor float bowl, working in conjunction with existing data acquisition.
Allows the user to determine and record the amount of fuel inside the float bowl of a conventional, racing carburetor without interfering with the float or affecting the bowl volume.
The sensor is small and light, mounting externally with no drilling or tapping of the float bowl required.

The price is the big stumbling block for me. It should not be 350+ bucks for what is effectively a pretty simple sensor.

It's only useful for serious racers, hence the price. Average joe on the street won't be interested because nobody in the McDonald's parking lot will understand what it does.

...or what to do with the information.
Most McD's parking lots are fillled with EFI these days, so it's a double clueless on that one. However, since bling is the thing, wouldn't doubt that those with more money than sense would get one for bragging rights. . .

I agree that a sensor of this design is not one of the low cost ones. However, according to the car-craft (maybe thats the trouble) article, it was not marketed for racers only.
