Emissions TPI vs LS2-Carbed

Hi!

Does anyone know some specs about emissions of the ls2-carbed-crate engine? my tpi costs around 1120$ tax every year ( in germany car-tax is related to displacement&emissions )

the lt1 would cost 545$
the ls1 would cost 500$
and the ls2 ( fuel injected! ) would cost 520$

if the emissions aren't as good as the tpi, i would have to pay about 1600$ tax.... pretty much as i think *g*

i'm a bit confused about american emission laws
hope someone can help me out with that problem *g*

greetz

One wouldn't typically associate a carb'd LS2 with emissions. I doubt you could find any information about it, in fact.

Looks to me like LT1 is the way to go for you. You could pay for it in tax savings alone in about 4 years. The difference in taxes between it and the LS1 would take about 40 years to pay off the difference in the cost of the two engines. You'll probably get better fuel economy with the LS1, but that would probably reduce the pay-back to around 35 years.

If you tried to prove in a court of law that US emissions laws are logical, you'd get thrown out for lack of evidence.

hmm i forgot to say that taxes will raise in some years....

example:
my tpi now costs 1120$ / year
2001-2005 it would have cost 820$ /year
1997-2001 only 500$

it's getting more and more expensive, so if i had a newer engine, i would save a lot! and the savings would even increase, if the taxes will be raised....

our emission laws aren't logical either ^^
you pay for a volkswagen golf ( model 1990 ) around 200$ ; almost same mileage, and the same group of emissions.... paying for displacement isnt fair :/
