2.8mpi to 350 carbbed fuel pump?
2.8mpi to 350 carbbed fuel pump?
I just read in someone eles's thread that they asked what would they have to do to swap tpi to carb and one of the answers there was to rewire the fuel pump,is this needed?I have a 88 2.8 car that I have a 350 in it now and plan to get a fuel pressure regulator so I dont have to drop the tank.why would I have to rewire the fuel pump???
If you use the MPFI pump, you'll have to run a regulator to drop the pressure down so the needle and seat doesn't blow out. Even with a regulator it won't work well.
Just drop the tank, remove the pump and either replace it with a pickup tube, or get a carbed sending unit.

The pump power signal goes through the ECM. Reports vary as to the effect of that if you leave the ECM in place, but from at least one member who did that specific swap, without the other inputs the ECM wouldn't keep the pump running.
That's passing on what others have said, I have no direct experience (except that when my '91 Bonneville ECM lost the ground circuit, the pump wouldn't come on).
