Straight up TPI to carb...

Okay, I was curious what would the power be like if I were to remove the TPI and just slap on a carb. Simple, if possible, as that. How simple can I get, do I have to retain a computer?

Here's my car as it sits. It is bone stock Lb9 motor with cold air intake & headers w/ stock catback and 3.42 gears. Before the headers and motor rebuild (died at 91k miles), it dynoed 187whp and 270wtq. I'm guessing with headers, intake, and being a fresh rebuilt motor, it should be around 210 and 280-290. It's a good running car.

I'm not into tuning and crap and I know the limitations of TPI, but I also know it makes torque. So again if I removed the tpi and put in a nice carb that you guys thing would be good, what kind of power would I see. What kind of hassles will I encounter. Is the stock L98 cam good?

I would like to hit mid/low 13's with the cheapest set up. Meaning if I can do it with TPI and some well placed/spent mods, or if I can with a carb, I'll do that.

I did a search, but I didn't find one with a straight simple TPI to carb swap.

I would recomend you leave it alone. You will need a solid reason to go carb with your setup and I personally see no reason for it. Your t.p.i. is restrictive but so is the rest of your engine.
Your cold starting will be more involved. Your gas milage may go down. Your Transmission will need something to lock and unlock the converter. Your distributor is computer controlled so that will no longer work. You will need a fuel pump that is carb friendly. You will need a carb intake. What are you looking to accomplish exactly? Oh and do a search. there is a ton of info on this subject...
