another tpi to carb question
Well i have a 89 iroc with a l98 and tpi parts are expensive and i hate computers so im gonna swap carb. Ive read the tech article on this but still have alot of questions.
1. Other then intake, carb, dist, and regulator what do i need to do this swap?
2. Do i have to get a switch for lock up?
3. How do i make the fans work and other things that are needed for the car to run good without the computer?
4. What do i do about throttle linkage?
5. What about fuel lines to feed to the carb from the stock tpi lines?

What I did was pulled the tank down and removed the pump completely. The pump can be seperated from the fuel level sender. I then removed the vent line to the charcoal canister, and the return line. I pluged both the lines off at the tank connection. I used a summit high volume 6 psi mechanical pump on the engine. I reused the stock fuel line that was the feed and used rubber hose from there to the carb(fab up whatever you wish here) think fire while doing it though.
Dont buy a cheap pump spend the money for a good one 100+ gph. The converter lockup I have on a vacuum switch and through my brake switch. The brake switch was for the cruise control. This assures when I put on the brakes the converter unlocks. Also my tranny only locks in 4th gear.
For the fan I have a painless performance kit. fan will work on its own and turns on 200 off 180. pick the kit to go along with your thermostat.
Throttle linkage is easy. go to vip or any auto store or summit and pick up the bracket for a carb.
do a search this stuff is very well written on this board as i knew none of this when i first got my car (sept 05).
