when chock is closed

the car idles really high like 3 grand from sum reson. then went i hold it open and start it it idls fine. could a spring broken or the idle screw is to lose or to tight i really need to know or should i just get a stock carb of another camaro.

The car should be on a fast idle while the choke is closed. See if you can find directions for setting the fast idle speed.

i let it idle for like that trying to turn it down but it wont. is was fine a couple days ago could the carb be going bad?
