replace/rebuild
hey im going to be in the market for a new carb, or am, and today i noticed there somewhere in the 240-290 range for a new one, i was told rebuilding a carb is a complicated job. im wondering how much it is for an overhaul kit because i mean thats just alot more than i wanted to spend origionally, and if the kit is cheap enough i might as well attempt rebuilding it to see if i get lucky. where should i look for an overhaul kit?

Check with your local parts stores for prices.
I'm not that familiar with the V6 carb, so I can't say much about how complicated it is.

I've rebuilt the little two barrel on the 2.8. Long time ago, don't remember many details except it was simple and easy. Kit and carb cleaner should run you ~$30, go for it.

yeah dont be afraid or anything just gather up all the tools and small things youll need and use the exploded diagram that comes with the kit and get some good carb soaking solution in a can and take your time and have a nice clean surface ro a big old towel across a table and go for it its not bad at all
the goal is to clean it out and replace all the worn out stuff and seals and gaskets in which all come in the kit
thats what goes wrong with carbs and will be taken care of when you use the kit
and once you've done one or two then youll always know how
this is how i and everyone else learns to do stuff, including carbs, is by going for it, its the only way
im never afraid to take something apart, unless it requires some special tools, so thats why ill take anything apart, except for transmissions, well ok i have taken some apart in the past, but not completely, due to lack of compressor tools and i never reassembled one lol.
good luck
