heater bypass valve question
ok i know im in the wrong spot but i just converted my 305 tbi to carb and had a question about the swap... my old heater core bypass valve has 3 lines... one from the intake, one from the heater core and one going to the radiator... my question is do i have to run one of the lines to the intake and what would be the disadvantages of not doing so? i pretty much want to bypass it altogether to clear up my engine bay a little and want to know how to go about doing this without losing my heater... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
thanks
or should i find a fitting for my intake and keep it.. if so what is that plug go and where would i put it on a edelbrock performer 2701?

The intake provides the hot water for the heater. You can just put a hose nipple in the intake coolant outlet and run the hose directly to the heater if you like. The return can either go to the radiator or the top of the water pump.
The purpose of the valve is to stop the flow of coolant to the heater core on max AC while still allowing coolant flow through the engine before the thermostat has opened. By eliminating the valve, you might not have quite as cold of AC when in the max position.
FWIW, factory carb cars didn't have the valve (although I'm not sure about '87 - it might have, it was a weird year).
