weird fuel pump problem after carb swap

well it seems my fuel pump is dying or doesnt work right without the sensors plugged in because sometimes when i go to start it the pump runs (i can hear it) and the car fires with one turn of the key other times the pump wont run and if i pump the carb it starts. When it does start it will run 5 mins then die ill start it again and it runs fine and doesnt die again.

Re: weird fuel pump problem after carb swap

When I did the TPI swap, I just rigged the pump at the relay to always be on when the key is turned. I ran a wire from the green/white wire on the relay to a 12v ignition source. (I used the slot on the fuse box where the fuse for the injectors went...didn't need that anymore )

Try that out and see how it works. Oh, might be a good idea to get a fuel pressure gauge to monitor what the fuel system is doing. You can get a hold of a cheap gauge at a speed shop with a T block for about 35$ total. Some guys say they are inaccurate, but mine stays pegged at 6.5psi now.
