Bad Carb Choice?
i feel a little dumb now ya'll, I dont know very much about carbs, I just assumed that all i would have to do is buy a carb and slap it on, so i found a 650 cfm holley carb off ebay for like 60 bucks or so, but I didnt really pay that much attention to any of the info, cuz i didnt really know..
well my friend looked at it and said he doesnt know where the downshift cable would connect to it.. so im first worried that its a manual transmission carb, if there is sucha thing.. second after i bought it, i found that the numbers on it bring up info on old fords, so i think i bought a stock ford carb.
and lastly, if this is some ford carb, will it bolt up? will we be able to use it with my 700r4? will i be able to buy the proper brackets for the tv cable? im really confused and worried that i screwed myself over.

That's a Ford service part. You'd have to do some work on it to make it friendly to your transmission. Probably not worth the trouble.

Even if you were to get a chevy one, youll have to get a tv correction bracket, or a slotted stud to bolt onto the linkage to get the tranny cable to line up right and snap on.
Also, Holley has a nifty little carb calculator on their website. You should check it out, it will tell you which carb is right for you.

Re: Bad Carb Choice?
hello hectre13
this is a holley ford carburator, fits to a 429 cid ford thunderbird.
i have the same one and i am trying to decide to have it rebuilt.
if you still have yours, can i buy it from you??
i have been told on forum that it is hard to find a rebuilder that you can trust
