Car Bogs, No Power At WOT In 3rd Gear (700r4)
well i went to race my brothers mustang tonight, we stopped, i brought my rpm's up to about 2500rpm and let er rip. the car spun through first, all through second, then caught traction in 3rd and soon as it went into third and i have it to the floor the car just feels like it almost dies, lose power like it bogs real bad i have to let off the gas for it to move.
any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like you're outrunning your fuel supply system to me. Very common when you get it really hooked up and making power screaming to redline- that's when fuel demand is greatest. If it's not keeping up it'll lay down or just about completely shut itself off until the fuel supply catches up (or you drop RPMs into the next gear) and it'll take off like a bat outta heck again.
A cheap remote-mount fuel pressure gague is the best diagnostic tool for checking this. I mount the gague where I can actually see it while driving (fuel pressure readings at idle in your driveway are basically meaningless- you need to see what it's doing at WOT, under load, all the way through a run). Personally, for simple checks like this I duck tape it to the outside of the windshield (temporarily!) and make a few runs. If you're outrunning your fuel system it will be obvious- fuel pressure will nose-dive and the motor will stuble and fall over a split second later.

alright ill see if i can score a fuel pressure gauge locally and try that out, i will let you know what happens.

ok bought a fuel pressure gauge and it bounces between 6 and 9, when i give it throttle it stays at 8.
is there a difference from driving it and just hitting the throttle while parked?

I think there is a difference. The engine should burn more fuel under load than just free revving in your driveway. Position the gauge so you can see it while you drive and try to recreate the conditions for your race and see what the fuel pressure does when you bog into 3rd.

some **** wipe put a pizza flyer underneath my breather in my carburetor and i didnt even notice til i put the fuel gauge in, now it doesnt bog anymore.
one more question t hough the car seems to have MORE power at 3/4 throttle then at full throttle, could my carb need to be set? and is 750 edelbrock too much for my engine or is the carb junk? maybe a holley 700 DP?

edelbrock rpm heads 170cc
edelbrock rpm air gap intake
