No high idle when cold anymore :(

For some reason, my car lost high idle when cold in the mornings.

I have done a couple of things to try to get it back. Keep in mind that I know very little about carbs.
I have adjusted the choke pull-off so that it opens the choke a couple of millimeters when the choke is fully closed.
After my car lost high idle, it started idling lower than normal in open loop. It would now idle anywhere from 350-450 when it used to stay at around 500rpm before.
The idle screw on the drivers side was not touching the little metal tab, so I set it to where it touches the tab and now the car idles around 500rpm in Drive and 650-700rpm when in Park. At first the idle was a little rough, but when I adjusted the idle air bleed (the screw on top of the carb if im not mistaken) the idle seemed to smooth out.
My reason for adjusting the idle screw was to prevent the extremely low idle (below 500) but I'm thinking that all I did was band-aid the real problem, since I still don't have fast idle.

What could be the problem?

The next thing I'm going to do is to check the fast idle screw on the passenger side and see if maybe its adjusted too low.

Does the choke snap shut with the engine off and cold when you open the throttle slightly?

The choke snaps, but it doesnt shut all the way. There will still be about 2-3mm of space. I noticed that there is a lot of play in the choke butterfly, maybe about 5-6mm.
