Edelbrock carb restart issue...

I am running an Edelbrock 750 carb (1407) on my TA. Well the car won't start immediately after I run it and leave it sit for a little while. After it sat I pumped the throttle and no gas was coming out. My thoughts are the fuel bowls drained down into the engine. Does anyone know the cause of this problem? I searched the internet and haven't found many answers. I have a carb rebuild kit and I am in the process of rebuilding the carb. I want to make sure I fix the problem and don't overlook what it is causing it. The carb is over 10 years old and sat dry for 8 of the years. I figure it desperately needs a rebuild anyways!

The fuel in the fuel bowl evaporates. Mine does the same thing.

I was reading that, but I find that hard to believe. What a waste of gas!

If you pull the lid off the carb while it's warm, you can see the fuel bubbling in the bowls. That's why the stock setup uses the vapor canister and the charcoal bed in the air cleaner... to catch the vapors and burn them later.

Learn something new everyday, that still stinks though, luckily I don't have the car around to save on gas!

Re: Edelbrock carb restart issue...

Well, my car is back up and running. Nothing changed except for the carb rebuild. I have not seen any fuel drain down issues. And the temperatures are more hot than I have ever ran the car before. My issue is fixed, however I never found out what was the cause!
