fuel millage???

what is about the avearage mpg for a 327 in one of thes cars??? i have a 92 rs that im thinking of putting a carbed 327 in , and trying to convince the wife at the same time that it wont be a hog at the pump. i have a 327 bored 60 over and has an off the shelf crane cam( i thinck it was a mild street or rv type for towing), i just know he said it was for more lowend torque ........other than that my dad says its bone stock. or would i be better off just rebuilding a stock 305???

Depends on the induction. What did you have planned?

The 327 heads won't have accessory bolt holes on the ends. How were you going to accommodate that?

What 305 did you start off with? Most likely, your 305 heads will be better than the 327 heads, and would solve the bolt hole problem. Rebuilding a 305 is rarely worth it, but need more particulars (why do you think it needs rebuilding, for instance).

I'm getting 18-23 mpg with my 350. It'll do worse if I get too frisky, of course.

Re: fuel millage???

I would search for a pair of 083 or 113 heads for the 327. Then put the TBI setup on it with 350 injectors, using a 350 Prom Chip, Knock Sensor, and ESC Module.

Re: fuel millage???

to be honest im not compleatly sure that the motor is a 327. it may have started off as one but it may have 350 insides ( crank , rods, pistons , mabiee even heads). its hard to tell without running all the indevidual part #'s, my dad has so many motors and parts in his shop. as far as the 305 being shot.......... its burning coolant in a bad way; kinda looks like an old train coming down the road. it blows coolant out of the radiator as soon as you crank it, so im leaning more towards a blown head gasket than a cracked head or block. i still need to get it apart and see the real damage.
