computer or quadrajunk?
i've been havin some problems with my lo3 and i'm about sick of it. would it be worth it to just fix all the problems *vac leaks, comp codes* or to just throw on a quadrajet? what all has to be replaced for the carb swap anywyas? dist, intake, carb, intank pickup and lockup on the tranny? *i plan on throwin a 355 carb motor in there soon anyways so this would give me a HUGE head start on that.

quadrajunk?
You make a disparaging comment about us, and then want our help???
Switching to carb now then to 350 later would mean doing some work twice. Whether that is more or less a problem depends upon you. And to some extent what's really wrong with your TBI.
There's a tech article linked from the thirdgen.org homepage about switching from EFI to carb. It's also linked in the Welcome to Carb sticky https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/carb...rd-please.html .

Re: computer or quadrajunk?
sorry five7, but doesn't the tc only lock up in 4th gear? and nothing is really WRONG with the tbi itself its more or less the compter is having some trouble communicating with the ecu and pcm... and the dist in there now is computer contolled then? jus heard some misconception about it not being cc and some saying it is.

Some systems will only lock up the TCC in 4th gear. Mine will lock up in 2nd if I have the shifter in 2nd and run up above 41 MPH.
The TBI distributor is part of the computer control system. The '87 LG4 computer controlled carburetor uses the same distributor. Most people who change from EFI to carb go with a non-computer set-up. I don't think I'd change from EFI to computer controlled carb.

Re: computer or quadrajunk?
on my original plan, it was to leave the lo3 in there til i got my 355 built, but this whole thing with the tbi is jus makin it harder to do that. i planned on cleaning out ALL of the cc stuff so if it ran rich or lean, know how to fix that, instead of my comp doin it for me.

Quite frankly, the computer can do a better job of adjusting the mixture than you can. You just need to give it what it needs to do its job.
350 TBI swaps are pretty common in 3rd gens. Check out the TBI forum.
