Spread Bore or Square Bore????

Ok so im looking into buying an Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold...im wondering if my engine is EGR or non-EGR and wether i should get a Spread Bore or Square Bore intake manifold...its an 85 Trans Am, 305 LG4...also would i need a carburetor adapter plate? and would the stock carb bolt right on?? thanks....now before you guys start telling me to save my money for a better engine or block and build my own engine il let you know now that i dont have that kind of money lol...however in the future when i do have the money it will happen but for now im only gonna do a few things to the engine i have now lol...thanks

If you're going to use the stock carb, you need a spreadbore intake.

Your stock manifold is EGR.

All Performer intakes are set up for either square bore or spread bore.

Re: Spread Bore or Square Bore????

i'd do shorty headers, a nice cat, and a 3" catback exhaust before i'd ever bother replacing the stock intake with the performer intake which won't net you any power for the $ spent compared to other mods.

Why would you want to do that? Your stock q-jet is your best choice until after a long, long list of other modifications are done. Basically, as long as it's on the street.
