tbi 2 carb question

i got my motor from a 87 camaro it had tbi, so i replace the manifold to bolt a carb (edelbrock 600 cfm), put a HEI distributor (accel) new fuel pump (mechanical), my question is do i have to do anything else? can the heads be swapped for pre 85 style (non center bolt)

Re: tbi 2 carb question

if you got the correct intake for the 72* centerbolt pattern it sounds like you got everything. question, what did you do with the in tank fuel pump? you can run that pump with a carb just get a regulator instead of using a mechanical pump. you can swap the heads to the old style but you will have to change the intake manifold again.

What car did you put the engine in? The question about the in-tank electric fuel pump is a good one - if your car had it, and you don't have it operating, you need to remove it; if your car didn't have it, no problem.

You don't have to change the cam, although it isn't a great grind. It is roller lifter, which is a good thing. If you replace the cam, get another factory roller type, and you can reuse your existing lifters.

Pretty good bet it didn't have an in-tank electric pump, then. . .
