TPI to Carb VSS question

My car is a 1990 with the 305 tpi/700R4 (not the one in my info) its a trans am.

Im doing my 350 swap into it with my non cc Q-jet, I plan on taking all the wires from the passinger fender that go the ECM out and remove the ecm with it incase i reutrn it to stock.

My question is, with the ECM gone will the speedo not work? cruise i dont care about.

(please dont come in here saying "stay with the TPI" cause im not, give me some info on my question or keep the comments to your self)

No. The purple and yellow wire from the vss are in that harness and go to the computer, out to your speedo.

So, Can i just leave the ecm hooked up and tuck all the wires away under the dash or something?

By wires, I mean the ones from the engine im not using, but just leaving the whole harness in the car but tucked away.

with the engine not running off the ECM will this make my trans do any kind of limp mode thing?
