carb problem

carb problem

i have a 1984 305 4 barrel elec controlled carb.when you start it you smell gas really bad.i pulled the line that comes from the canister off and a few drops of gas comes out.any ideas what could be causing this.THANKS.

Could be any number of things, but check around the fuel inlet line and follow it all the way back to the steel lines on the fenderwell. Check for leaks.

The canister catches fuel vapors and saves them to burn later. A few drops of fuel in the line now and then (especially after it's cooled off) could be considered normal. Just make sure all the hoses, etc. are hooked up properly.
