At idle when I first start my car, I usually have to keep the throttle pressed down a little to keep it running until it warms up, then its fine.

I tried closing the choke one time and the car immediately died. What can I learn from this? Does this mean my idle mixture is too rich/lean, or is my overall condition rich/lean? I'm just trying to make sense of all the information I can since I'll be experimenting with jets, acc. pump cams and a bigger squirter shortly.

It means the high idle (choke on) speed is too low.
