Carter AFB on an Lg4

Hello, I'm going to start throwing money at my car here in a little while, first off with full exhaust. I traded for a Carter AFB with electric choke awhile ago and was wondering what it would take to put on my car? I believe it's a 500 CFM, and what intake should I get? Thanks

You'd be better off keeping the Quadrajet, but if you wanted the AFB you'd need a new manifold or an adapter (preferrably the manifold), some bracketry for the cables, a new distributor, and some plumbing.

The Performer RPM air-gap seems to be the best all around intake I've seen. If you may do any power adders in the future, I'd go for a Victor Jr. because a single plane is recommended for fuel distribution on power adders. I'd rather have a 600cfm carb on that, but you're probably only looking at a 2-4 hp difference anyway.

So if it wouldn't be worth it I'll just stick with the Quadrajet. I just thought it might be a good idea to do a few upgrades because I got the Carter practically for free. Plus it was professionally rebuilt by Edelbrock before I got it, and it hasn't even seen a car since then. Thanks alot for the replies

The Carter is the exact opposite of an upgrade compared to the q-jet.

Re: Carter AFB on an Lg4

I've heard alot of mixed reviews, "Q-Jets are the best out there," "Carter/Edelbrock are great," "QuadraJunk," "Edelbrock are crap." If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'll keep the Q-Jet and sell the Carter. Thanks alot guys
