ok well ive had this vacuum problem with my car, every time i hit the gas it died from the start but if i could slowly build it up. we figured my carb need to be rebuilt so i bought the kit and the floats... welli just took my carb off and guess what? 3 of the 4 bolts that hold it down. i could take off with my hand. ek

 

that was your problem right there.
