switching a quadrajet e4mc to a holley 600 cfm
well i have a holley 600 cfm that i just bought, i have the 305 5.0 with a holley street dominator intake. i was wondering my firebird has the quadrajet e4mc which has the computerized float, do i have to switch anything around such as the distributor or anything? Also the tv cable where it hooks on to the carburator I kinda broke the clip so now it's just a piece of cable does anybody know where to find these clips at?
any info would help out alot thanks!

I wouldn't recommend changing the carb if that Qjet is working fine. You won't gain anything by switching to the Holley.
Now, that said, if you do swap to the Holley, you'll need an older style HEI distributor with vacuum advance, and the TV cable bracket from Holley.

The E4ME doesn't have a "computerized float". It uses the same float as a standard q-jet.
What is computer controlled is the main jets. That's all. It has a throttle position sensor for the computer. It uses an electrically heated choke like most carbs since the late 70's (including Holleys).
As Air_Adam stated, you won't gain anything by switching to the Holley. You will lose - economy, driveability, and maybe even power. You'll need to provide a means to lock up the torque converter clutch (which the computer does when it has proper input - which it won't when you take out the factory carb and distributor) or you'll burn out the 3-4 clutch pack.
For the money it takes to switch from the factory q-jet to Holley, your money would have been better spent fixing whatever is wrong with the q-jet. Unless the q-jet has been ham-fisted by a shadetree in the past, it would be cheaper to fix (assuming the carb itself is causing whatever problem you are thinking makes it done-for, which has a very high probablity of not being the case) than it would to install the Holley properly, and you'd have a better carb with the q-jet in the end. Even buying a rebuilt q-jet would be cheaper than installing the Holley.
But, it's your car and your money.
