86 camaro carb question

Hello, I am new to this forum but I have a question about an 86 z28 305 with quadrajet carb. I bought this car from the original owner who said he drove the car daily and he parked it one night and it wouldn't start the next day. The car has sat about 4 years and I bought it. I tried cranking and it filled the engine up with gas. Any ideas???????

Re: 86 camaro carb question

Welcome to TGO. Float in carb is likely stuck open allowing fuel to flow through. A rebuild kit for the carb is probably in order. A good starting point is the sticky above and a thread started by Nate86 back when:

Re: 86 camaro carb question

Thanks.. I pulled the carb off today and will probably let someone else do the rebuild. I don't know if that could have been what originally caused the car not to start. Hopefully that will get it back up and going. Thanks for the help.
