i just rebuilt my carburetor and when i tried to fire up the car to tune it shot a fire ball out of it. a friend help me get it running and now it runs smooth at idle but when you crack the throttle it shoots fire *****. if you roll on the throttle it runs fine untill about 1/2 throttle then it bogs down and will choke the car out. its a holley 4160 and quite old. any advice?

 

Did you set the float levels, induction backfire is most likely caused by extreme lean conditions.

Make sure the firing order and ignition timing is correct.
