Are you sure it's not the Canadian model with the two wire connector on top for the fuel enrichment solenoid? The ccc will have a three wire connector to the TPS front/drivers side in addition to the two wire connector on top.

well it is the canadian model with just the 2 wire plug (onewire to thermostat housing one wire to ECU?) i thought it was wierd when there was talk of a tps and i know i didnt see one.

i dont mean to steal this thread but i need help lol.

can i put an edelbrock carb on this and just not use that plug? and do i need to change my distributer?

Let's give this its own thread instead of highjacking someone else's.

Why do you want to replace the q-jet? You don't need to replace the distributor when you already have a non-computer q-jet, but it won't bolt to a stock intake manifold without an adapter.

No matter how you slice it, a Performer is a downgrade from a q-jet.

Re: Canadian q-jet
hey thanks for moving this for me.

heres the story:

installed a edelbrock performer intake and was going to use the edelbrock performer carb. but then i read about the computer control issue.

so can i use the edelbrock carb and just not plug that in and still have the car run and pass emisions?

or should i just clean the crap out of my old one or buy a remand carb.

i dont see how using this stock carb would be better than an aftermarket.

Re: Canadian q-jet
Q-jets are very versatile and adjustable carbs IF you know how to adjust them. I doubt you'd pass emissions with a non-stock carb, though I could be wrong. I'm sure someone with a little more knowledge will chime in and let you know!

Trust us, the stock carb is superior in every way. The Performer is a late-50's/early-60's design, the q-jet is mid-60's and was updated over the years.

The q-jet is the better carb.
