Re: GOOD CARB

i have the same carb with an edelbrock rpm intake and headers on my 350,,it runs very good and i don't miss my holley at all...a lot of people bash edelbrock carbs,,but from what i can see on these posts ..there are way more issues with holley carbs than edelbrocks or q-jets combined...

Having watched this forum for 10 years, I can say that more problems are resolved by removing an Edelbrock than by installing one.

Two reasons for this:

1. There are more Holleys used than Edelbrocks and Q-Jets combined.
2. Most people don't know squat about carbs regardless of make to begin with, especially now that they aren't being taught anymore, and the factories quit using them.

The q-jet has been the most misunderstood and abused induction system since 1966. People simply don't want to learn about them (many on this forum/present company excepted), and blame the design for their ignorance.

Holley has never claimed their products are ready to run "out of the box". Similarly, people don't take the time to understand how they work, and blame the product for their own inadequacies.

Edelbrock carbs can be tuned beyond their out-of-the-box configuration by following Edelbrock's instructions. But, there are many features that can't be tuned without difficulty, and the plain & simple truth is it has zero design advantages over the factory 3rd gen q-jets.

No argument from me. Q-jets work great, and always have. As you've said, people don't understand them and can't be bothered to learn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Edelbrock nothing more than a rebadged Carter?
